A few years back, I tried to read what was said to be the most amazing book: The Life-Changing Art of Tidying Up by Marie Kondo. And to tell you the truth, this girl (meaning ME) could NOT get into it!!!! I love my STUFF!!!
But…as this 2019 New Year came, we returned from our winter break to loads of laundry and piles of amazing presents my children were gifted. After putting the kids down to bed, I sat down to fold those piles of laundry and came across the new Netfix show Tidying Up. I’ll tell you what! This show is INSPIRING!!!
We live in a world where we can get ANYTHING we want. The variety is endless. And yet, when we purchase something new, we don’t get rid of the old. And by “we” I mean “me” or my kids or my husband. We tend to hold on to the “things”.
The first day back to school after winter break came. I sent the kids off to school and I PURGED! 2 bags of clothes from both of their closets, 2 bags of clothes from my closet, 2 bags of toys and games and dress-up clothes from the playroom, & 2 bags of trash–just TRASH from all the rooms. Oh my gosh, it felt SOOO GOOD!!!!
But now, I have the aftermath of the purge to organize those things I did keep. Call it “little piles everywhere”. 🙂 Hopefully by the end of the weekend, we’ll all be back to normal. And back to normal means moving on to drawers one by one and rejoice a life a little bit tidier. 🙂
