Homemade Ornament

Did you see my instagram post last week? It was PARTY WEEK at the elementary school and we decided to do a Candyland theme, including an oversized Candyland game I created for the 3rd graders. It was such a hit!

Well, this little project is what sparked the idea! To continue with the Candyland theme, the kids made snow-covered cupcakes with a cherry on top! They turned out so stinkin’ cute!!!

Here’s how you too can make a cupcake 🧁 ornament:

Supplies

You will need:

  • 1.25″ styrofoam ball
  • 1 mini cupcake liner
  • string, approx. 3″ in length
  • glue
  • 1 faux berry cut from branch
  • faux snow
  • skewer (not shown)
  • glue gun (not shown)

Step 1.

Poke skewer into end of foam ball

Step 2.

Dip ball into glue, coating 2/3 of ball

Step 3.

Dip glue-coated ball into faux snow to cover.

Step 4.

Wiggle ball off skewer. (fingers may get a little messy from the wet glue.)

Put a dollop of hot glue in center of mini cupcake liner and stick UNcoated side of the ball to the cupcake liner..

Step 5.

Poke small hole at top of foam ball, place a dollop of hot glue in it and stick the 2 ends of the string into the hole.

Step 6.

Poke stick side of faux berry into that same whole and you are DONE!

Aren’t they adorable?!!! Cute as can be candy/cupcake ornament you are happy 😃 to see go on to the tree!

Merry Christmas y’all!!! I hope your day is candy-filled fun!
